We currently have an opportunity for a Subtransmission and Complex Planning Manager to provide strategic direction, leadership and advanced engineering direction in the both the sub transmission planning function and the evaluation of complex planning assessment.

The position is responsible for the formulation and implementation of network investment plans, Sub transmission and Complex Planning strategic business and regulatory plans. The manager will ensure the development of projects which will form part of a prudent works program aligned with the EE network plan and in compliance with external requirements including the National Electricity Rules.

The successful applicant be required to have the following experience and skills to be successful in the position.

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience preferably in a similar role within the electricity distribution industry in sub transmission and complex planning, asset management or engineering/commercial with regulatory aspects
  • Strong leadership experience with demonstrated experience in leading effective asset management/sub transmission and complex planning teams including direction setting and change management
  • Strategic planning experience to develop complex initiatives and programs to achieve business sustainability and optimise strategic outcomes
  • Professional Electrical Engineering experience for analysis and interpretation of complex electrical engineering situations and formulation of complex engineering solutions
  • Significant experience in network planning, forecasting and demand management application in electricity distribution networks, including technical, commercial and regulatory aspects
  • Experience in developing demand management tools and new and innovative alternatives to traditional network expenditure
  • Strong understanding of commercial considerations and risk management principles including consequence, likelihood and residual risk
  • Working knowledge of asset management practices and standards including ISO55001
  • In depth knowledge of the National Electricity Rules specifically applicable to sub transmission planning standards and processes
  • Excellent knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements eg WHS, IPART, AER, Electricity Act, etc.

Skills

  • Demonstrated capability in asset management including data gathering, needs analysis, options development and program development to manage best practice end to end asset management, including sub transmission and complex planning, network forecasting, load flow, network stability, protection, network behaviour, power quality and customer connections
  • Strong project management skills to deliver outcomes to time and budget
  • Sound understanding of commercial considerations and risk management principles including consequence, likelihood and residual risk
  • Professional interpersonal and influencing skills with a proven ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders to build collaborative working relationships across all levels of the business and externally
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to prepare executive and external documentation, reports, briefings, and socialise recommendations for business implementation
  • Excellent skills in computer operations and business system software to gather and prepare reports.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering (Electrical) with postgraduate studies in business administration or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications.
